Who says pumpkins have to be orange? If you’re wondering how to make a handmade pumpkin thank you card, today’s project is a fun way to mix things up! We’re using the Painted Pumpkins Bundle from Stampin’ Up! with a rich combination of Blackberry Bliss, Crushed Curry, and Pecan Pie. It’s a little unexpected for fall, but that’s what makes this card so much fun!
I love traditional fall colors, but sometimes it’s fun to give them a little twist. For this card, the pumpkins are the stars of the show. The Painted Pumpkins Bundle gives them that wonderful autumn character, while the layered cardstock helps bring the whole design together.

A Bonus for You!
Any order you place in October includes a free 10-project tutorial featuring the Neutral Noel Suite that you can use with any Bundle in your stamp stash.
It’s filled with cozy, step-by-step card ideas to spark your creativity when your order arrives — so you’re not staring at supplies wondering where to start.
The little linen-thread bow adds a finishing touch without making the card feel too fancy. Sometimes it’s those small details that make a handmade card feel extra special. Wouldn’t it be nice to surprise them with something handmade? And the best part? It’s a lovely way to let someone know how much you appreciate them.
And because this is a thank-you card, it’s one you can use throughout the fall season. Think about the friend who brought you a homemade treat, the neighbor who helped with a chore, or someone who simply made your day a little brighter.

Let’s talk about the colors, because they’re what make this card a little different!
Blackberry Bliss brings a deep, rich purple that gives the pumpkins an unexpected look. Crushed Curry adds that warm golden yellow we associate with autumn, while Pecan Pie provides an earthy brown that ties everything together.
The combination works because the bright gold balances the darker purple, and the warm brown keeps everything grounded. It’s a beautiful reminder that you don’t have to use traditional orange to make a card that feels like fall. And if you’ve got these colors sitting in your craft room, here’s a fun reason to pull them out!
How To Make This Card
You’ll find the full supply list and step-by-step instructions below.

How to Make a Handmade Pumpkin Thank You Card
Supplies Needed
- Crushed Curry Cardstock: 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" (scored at 4-1/4)
- Mossy Meadow Cardstock: 4" x 5-1/4"
- Very Vanilla Cardstock: 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" (2 pieces)
- Lemon Lolly Cardstock: 1/2" x 3"
Instructions
- Fold the Crushed Curry Cardstock in half at the score line to create your card base.
- Adhere one of the 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" pieces of Very Vanilla cardstock inside the card and decorate as desired.
- Using the other piece of Very Vanilla cardstock, place on a scratch piece of paper and tape onto the paper using non-stick tape such as Washi Tape or Painters Tape.
- Place Mask #1 onto the Very Vanilla cardstock and lightly sponge Crushed Curry ink onto 3 of the pumpkins and Blackberry Bliss over 3 of the pumpkins, sponging gently over the mask using a Blending Brush.
- Remove Mask #1 and line up Mask #3 and sponge Crushed Curry onto the Crushed Curry pumpkins and Blackberry Bliss onto the Blackberry Bliss pumpkins. If desired, go back over the Crushed Curry pumpkins and lightly add a bit of Blackberry Bliss ink.
- Remove Mask #3, line up Mask #4, and sponge Pecan Pie onto the pumpkins to create the stems. Remove the mask, set all 3 masks aside to clean later. Tip: I run them under cool water and stand up against a backsplash to let dry naturally.
- Adhere the Very Vanilla cardstock to the Mossy Meadow cardstock and adhere to the front of the card.
- Stamp the Thank You onto the 1/2" strip of Lemon Lolly cardstock using Crushed Curry ink. Adhere to the front of the card using Stampin' Dimensionals.
- Tie a bow in the Neutrals Jute color of your choice and adhere to the front of the card as desired. Add several radiant gems as desired to finish.
Notes
The Painted Pumpkins Bundle is the featured product for this project, and I love how it gives you a focal point with plenty of autumn personality. The layered design lets the pumpkins stand out, while the greeting and linen-thread bow bring everything together. You don’t need to add a lot of extra decorations when your stamped images and colors are already doing the work.
Here’s something I think we sometimes forget: a thank-you card doesn’t have to follow a big occasion. Maybe someone picked up your groceries when you weren’t feeling well. Maybe a friend remembered something important to you. Or maybe someone took five minutes out of a busy day just to check in.
Those little acts of kindness deserve to be noticed.
And when you send a handmade card, you’re giving someone more than a thank-you. You’re letting them know you took a little time just for them. So grab your Painted Pumpkins Bundle, have some fun with these unexpected fall colors, and think of someone who deserves a little gratitude in their mailbox.
