You know those cards that make you think, “Oh, that looks complicated”? This easy Fall Card that looks harder than it is is definitely one of those cards. But here’s our little secret: the Painted Patch Designer Series Paper is doing most of the heavy lifting. Even better, this is a beginner-friendly card. The pumpkin and greeting were simply stamped and cut out with scissors. Yep. Scissors. We can handle scissors.
The Painted Patch Designer Series Paper is filled with painted pumpkins, gourds, leafy sprigs, and coordinating patterns in a fresh fall color palette. That means you don’t need to create all that detail yourself.
I used different patterns from the paper to build the background, including that fun striped pattern and the pumpkin design. Mixing the patterns gives the card lots to look at, but because they come from the same paper pack, the colors and artwork already work together.
This is one of my favorite ways to make an easy card look more involved. Let the people who designed the paper worry about coordinating everything, cuz we have cards to make.

September ordering Bonus
A Bonus for You!
Any order you place in September includes a free 10-project tutorial featuring the Sunflower Fields Suite that you can use with any Bundle in your stamp stash.
It’s filled with cozy, step-by-step card ideas to spark your creativity when your order arrives — so you’re not staring at supplies wondering where to start.
The Painted Pumpkins Bundle has coordinating dies and Decorative Masks, and we’ll have plenty of opportunities to play with those on other projects.
But you don’t need them to make this card.
I used the Painted Pumpkins Stamp Set to create the pumpkin, colored it in quickly with the Lost Lagoon Stampin’ Blends, then cut it out with scissors. I did the same thing with the “Hello, Gourd-geous” greeting. That’s especially important if you’re newer to cardmaking. You don’t need every tool before you can make something you’re proud of.
Start with what you have. A stamp set, ink, pretty paper, cardstock, and a pair of scissors can take you a very long way.

Lost Lagoon, Calypso Coral, and Secret Sea give this fall card a fresh twist on the usual autumn colors.
Calypso Coral brings the warmth we expect in a fall card, while Lost Lagoon adds a softer blue-green that picks up those unexpected pumpkins and gourds in the Painted Patch paper. Then Secret Sea grounds everything with a deep, rich contrast.
Together, they feel cozy enough for fall without relying on the traditional orange, brown, and yellow combination. It’s a fun reminder that your fall cards can still feel seasonal while using colors that are a little unexpected.
How To Make This Card
You’ll find the full supply list and step-by-step instructions below.

Easy Fall Card That Looks Harder Than It Is
Supplies Needed
- Lost Lagoon Cardstock: 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" (scored at 4-1/4")
- Basic White Cardstock: 4" x 5-1/4" (inside card)
- Basic White Cardstock: 3-7/8" x 5-1/8"
- Painted Patch Paper: 3-3/4" x 5" (gourd images)
- Painted Patch Paper: 1-1/2" x 3-3/4" (plaid background)
- Basic White Cardstock: 2" x 5" (scrap for cutting images)
Instructions
- Fold the Lost Lagoon cardstock in half at the score line to create your card base.
- Adhere the 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White cardstock inside the card base and decorate as desired.
- Adhere the 3-3/4" x 5" Painted Patch paper to the 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" Basic White cardstock. Adhere the 1-1/2" x 3-3/4" plaid Painted Patch paper. Cut 6" of the ribbon and adhere to the back of Basic White cardstock and adhere to the front of the card base.
- Using the 2" scrap of Basic White cardstock, stamp the pumpkin and the sentiment onto the cardstock using Secret Sea ink.
- Color in the pumpkin using the Lost Lagoon Blends.
- Fussy cut out each image using scissors and adhere to the front of the card as shown in the sample using Stampin' Dimensionals.
- To finish, add several of the Pool Party Sparkle Sequins as desired.
Notes
Once the paper and pumpkin were doing their jobs, the card didn’t need much more. The Calypso Coral With Copper Border Ribbon adds softness and another touch of that warm coral color. The metallic copper edge also brings in just a hint of shine. A few Sparkle Sequins finish things off with another little glimmer.
Neither detail is complicated, but together they help take the card from “cute” to “ohhhh, that’s cute!” Sometimes that’s all stepping up a card really takes.
This is exactly the kind of project I love to share with beginner cardmakers. You can look at a finished card with layers, patterns, ribbon, sparkle, and a dimensional focal point and assume you need years of experience or a craft room full of tools to make it.
You don’t.
Start with beautiful coordinating paper. Add a stamped focal point. Cut it out with scissors. Finish with a little texture or sparkle if you want it. Done.
And that “Hello, Gourd-geous” greeting makes this a fun card to send without waiting for a birthday or another special occasion. Write a quick note inside and send it to somebody you haven’t talked to lately. Because sometimes a little hello really can mean a lot.
