Today’s nature inspired Thank You Card with the Fern & Flora Bundle by Stampin’ Up!® combines soft botanical details with rich earthy colors for a card that feels elegant without becoming overly complicated. It’s perfect for creating layered designs with a calm, nature-inspired feel, and this project really lets those beautiful dies shine.

I paired the delicate fern die cut with Valley in Bloom Designer Paper in Mossy Meadow tones along with warm Pecan Pie accents for a clean and polished layout that still feels artistic and relaxed. The simple design allows the textures and layers to do most of the work while keeping the overall card beautifully balanced.

One of my favorite things about handmade thank you cards is how meaningful they feel, even with a clean and simple design. This card has a peaceful, thoughtful look that works wonderfully for sending appreciation to a friend, customer, neighbor, or anyone who deserves a heartfelt note. The earthy combination of Pecan Pie, Old Olive, and Mossy Meadow gives the project a grounded, calming feel that makes it especially versatile for year-round crafting.

This design is also a great example of how layering can completely elevate a card without making it feel busy. The soft green background from the Valley in Bloom Designer Paper adds subtle texture and depth while still keeping the spotlight on the beautiful white fern die cut. Using the Stylish Shapes Dies to frame that background panel helps create structure and balance, giving the card a polished finished look.

Because this project relies heavily on die cutting and layered details, it’s a better fit for cardmakers who are comfortable using the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine. The detailed fern die creates such a beautiful focal point, especially when cut from Basic White Cardstock, but the intricate design does require a little patience when removing the delicate pieces. A Take Your Pick Tool can be especially helpful for lifting those tiny die-cut sections cleanly and easily.

Nature Inspired Thank You Card with Fern & Flora Bundle

Create an elegant thank you card with the Fern & Flora Bundle using layered die cuts, earthy colors, and soft botanical textures for a polished handmade design.

Supplies Needed

  • Pecan Pie Cardstock: 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" (scored at 4-1/4")
  • Basic White Cardstock: 4" x 5-1/4" (two pieces)
  • Valley In Bloom Designer Paper: 2-3/4" x 2-3/4" (neutral green background)
  • Basic White Cardstock: 1-3/4" x 3" (scrap for die-cutting)

Instructions

  • Fold the Pecan Pie cardstock in half at the score line to create your card base.
  • Adhere one of the 4" x 5-1/4" pieces of Basic White cardstock inside the card; decorate as desired.
  • Using the other piece of 4" x 5-1/4" Basic White cardstock, run through the Cut & Emboss Machine using the 2-3/8" square Stylish Shapes die. Place the die about 3/4" down from the top of the cardstock and in the center. Save the die-cut piece for another card.
  • Ink up just the "thanks" from the Fern & Flora Stamp Set using Pecan Pie ink. Stamp at the bottom of where the square was cut out from the Basic White cardstock. Tip: I lined up the stamp so that the "sincere" was off the cardstock. See sample for placement.
  • Adhere the Valley in Bloom Designer Paper on the backside of the Basic White cardstock so that the neutral pattern shows through on the front side. Adhere to the cardstock to the front of the card.
  • Run the scrap of Basic White cardstock through the Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine using the smaller detailed fern die from the Fern & Flora Bundle Dies.
  • Adhere the die-cut fern to the front of the card as shown in the sample using small drops of adhesive to finish.

Notes

Worker Bee  (for Confident Cardmakers)
Worker Bee projects are designed for the crafter who has a bit more time and enjoys creating a handmade card that features a technique or tool. In many cases, a Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine is required for die-cutting and/or embossing.

I also love how this layout proves you don’t need a lot of embellishments to create something elegant. The crisp white card front gives the eye room to rest while the stitched square opening naturally draws attention to the botanical focal point. Stamping the sentiment directly onto the card front in Pecan Pie keeps everything cohesive and understated. Small choices like repeating colors and limiting layers help the design feel intentional and sophisticated.

This is the kind of card that feels relaxing to create and even more meaningful to send. The soft botanical elements, warm natural colors, and layered textures come together in such a timeless way. Handmade thank you cards never have to be complicated to feel special, and this design is a wonderful reminder that simple details often create the biggest impact.
