Coffee and Card using the Framed Violets Stamp Set is a pretty reminder that beginner-friendly cards can still have plenty of color and personality. For this week’s Stampin’ Up!® project, I paired a sweet violet image with Bloom Boutique Designer Series Paper and let the paper guide nearly every creative choice.

The mix of Peaceful Pine, Hydrangea Hue, and Crisp Cantaloupe gives the card a fresh garden feel, while the simple layered layout keeps everything approachable. This is a lovely design for newer stampers who want to practice coloring and layering without taking on anything too complicated. This is the exact card we made during this week’s Coffee & a Card—our casual midweek craft break on Facebook where we chat, sip on our favorite beverage, and make something wonderful.

The Framed Violets Stamp Set makes a beautiful focal point without requiring a complicated technique. I colored the flowers and leaves with Stampin’ Blends, adding soft shading that gives the image dimension while still keeping the process manageable for a beginner. The illustrated violets are detailed enough to be interesting, but open enough to make coloring relaxing rather than fussy.

One of my favorite ways to make color choices easier is to start with Designer Series Paper. The Bloom Boutique paper already gave me a beautiful palette to work with, so I simply pulled Peaceful Pine, Hydrangea Hue, and Crisp Cantaloupe from the patterns. Using colors that already appear together in the paper helps every layer feel connected and takes away the guesswork—a helpful confidence builder when you’re still getting comfortable with card design.

The layout does a little extra work for us, too. Layering the stamped panel over the two Bloom Boutique patterns creates plenty of visual interest, while the narrow ribbon helps separate the designs. The simple “Take Care” greeting stretches across the focal panel and makes this an easy all-occasion card to keep on hand for encouragement, friendship, or someone who simply needs to know you’re thinking of them.

This is the kind of card that would be especially meaningful for a friend going through a difficult week, a neighbor who could use some encouragement, or someone you haven’t connected with in a while. The soft florals feel caring without being tied to one specific occasion, which makes the finished card easy to send whenever your heart tells you someone could use it.

Handmade cards give us such a simple way to stay connected. A “Take Care” message arriving in the mailbox can mean far more than we realize because it tells someone they were worth our time and attention. I hope you’ll watch the Coffee & a Card replay and follow along with the tutorial, then make your card and send it to someone who could use a little extra kindness this week.
