If you’re new to stamping and wondering where to start, this easy Handmade Fall Card for beginner or busy cardmakers is exactly the kind of project I’d recommend. And if you’ve been stamping forever but just don’t have much time today, it works for you too!

There’s nothing complicated hiding here. Three stamped leaves, a greeting, and a simple layout are enough to create a card that looks finished and is ready to send. That’s one of the things I love about stamping. You really don’t need to start with fancy techniques. Sometimes a beautiful stamp and a few ink pads will do most of the work for you.

For this Coffee & a Card project, I used the Elegant Leaves Stamp Set. Elegant Leaves is a Distinktive stamp set, which means the stamps have special texture built right into the design. That texture creates different levels of color and detail with a single stamped image.

For a new stamper, that’s a pretty nice trick to have up your sleeve! You don’t have to know how to shade or color a detailed leaf. Ink the stamp, stamp it onto your cardstock, and much of that beautiful depth and dimension is already there.

Elegant Leaves is also a Two-Step Stampin’ set, so as your confidence grows, you can layer images and colors to create even more detailed designs. But you certainly don’t have to start there. This card is proof that the individual leaf images can be beautiful all by themselves.

For this card, I used Pecan Pie, Pumpkin Pie, and Granny Apple Green. Pumpkin Pie gives us that warm orange we naturally associate with autumn, while Pecan Pie adds an earthy brown that grounds the whole combination. Then Granny Apple Green wakes everything up.

Instead of using only the deeper, muted colors we often see on fall cards, that fresh green adds a little brightness. It reminds me of that part of fall when some leaves have started changing while others are still hanging onto summer. It’s a fresh fall color combination without losing that cozy autumn feeling.

There’s another beginner-friendly idea here that has nothing to do with fall.

I stamped three different leaves in three colors and gave each one its own small square. By lining those squares up across the card, they become the focal point without needing lots of extra layers or embellishments. That’s a layout worth remembering.

Change the leaves to flowers, hearts, snowflakes, balloons, or whatever small stamps you already own, and you’ve got a completely different card. It’s one of those simple card layouts that can come in very handy when you’re short on time or simply don’t want to overthink what you’re making.

The “sending caring thoughts” greeting makes this an especially useful card because you don’t have to wait for a particular occasion to send it. Maybe someone has been on your mind. Maybe a friend is having a difficult week. Or maybe it’s been way too long since you’ve said hello. That’s reason enough.

And if you’re a brand-new stamper, imagine how good it will feel when the first card you make is actually in someone else’s mailbox instead of sitting on your craft table! Don’t forget to download the tutorial and enjoy making this quick and easy card!
