There are moments when cardmaking feels different. Quieter. Slower. More intentional. This Prayers and Promises Handmade Sympathy Card is one of those projects. It invites you to create with care, knowing the card you’re making will carry comfort, faith, and presence to someone who needs it most.
Sympathy cards are never made casually. They are made with purpose and heart. When words are hard to find, a handmade card becomes a gentle way to say you are remembered, you are cared for, and you are not alone. This card is designed to hold space for grief, healing, and hope without overwhelming the message.

Even though sympathy cards can feel emotionally heavy, the process of making this one feels steady and grounding. The design is simple and uncluttered, allowing you to focus on creating rather than second guessing. You can begin this project knowing it won’t demand complicated steps or decisions.
This card also gives you permission to keep things quiet. Soft layers, natural textures, and thoughtful placement remove the pressure to do more. It’s a reminder that simple choices can still result in a beautiful, meaningful card. You don’t need to overthink it for it to be enough.

Muted greens and gentle neutrals set a peaceful tone. The layered background adds subtle texture without distraction. Botanical shapes bring in a sense of nature and renewal, while the round sentiment softens the overall layout. Linen thread and small metallic accents add warmth and quiet detail, creating a card that feels calm, balanced, and intentional.
Once finished, this card feels complete in a deeper way. It’s not just done, it’s ready. Ready to be written in. Ready to be sent. Ready to offer comfort. There’s a quiet confidence that comes from knowing you’ve created something thoughtful and appropriate for a tender moment.

- Basic White Cardstock: 2-1/2" x 2-1/2" (scrap for punching)
Instructions
- Fold the Soft Sea Foam cardstock in half at the score line to create your card base. Adhere the 4" x 5-1/4" Basic White Cardstock inside the card.
- Adhere the 3-3/4" x 5-1/2" Crumb Cake Nature's Walk paper to the 4" x 5-1/2" Garden Green cardstock. Wrap Linen Thread around the Garden Green cardstock 3 times and tie into a bow on the left side. Adhere to the front of the card.
- Run the 4" x 5" Garden Green Nature's Walk paper through the Cut & Emboss Machine and die-cut out the large leaf from the Nature's Symphony Dies. Adhere to the front of the card, slipping the leaves under and about the Linen Thread.
- Stamp the sentiment onto the center of the 2-1/2" scrap of Basic White cardstock using Garden Green ink. Punch out the sentiment using the 1-3/4" Circle Punch. Add the sentiment to the front of the card using Stampin' Dimensionals.
- To finish, add 3 of the Faux Bronze Pentagons to the front of the card as desired.
Notes
Worker Bee projects are designed for the crafter who has a bit more time and enjoys creating a handmade card that features a technique or tool. In many cases, a Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine is required for die-cutting and/or embossing.
