Forever Friend Card with Lily of the Valley Stamp Set

One of my favorite things about cardmaking is creating a card that reminds someone just how much they mean to us. This Forever Friend Card with Lily of the Valley Stamp Set from Stampin’ Up!® is the perfect example. With soft shades of Pool Party and fresh greens, this design feels peaceful, elegant, and heartfelt without being overly complicated. The beautiful Valley in Bloom Designer Series Paper does much of the decorating for you, while the Spotlight on Nature Dies create a polished focal point that lets the sentiment shine. It’s a wonderful design for celebrating the friends who make life a little brighter.

This is the exact card we made during this week’s Coffee & a Card—our casual midweek craft break on Facebook where we chat, sip on our favorite beverage, and make something wonderful. This design was inspired by fellow Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrator LeeAnn Greff, and I loved her layout so much I just had to CASE it. Judging by everyone’s reaction during the live, I’d say it was a winner!

The diagonal paper strips create wonderful movement across the card while showing off several coordinating patterns from the Valley in Bloom Designer Series Paper. It’s an easy way to add interest without complicated techniques, and it’s also a fantastic way to use up paper scraps you’ve been saving. The layered design looks impressive, yet once you’ve created one card, you’ll quickly see how easy it is to recreate with different paper collections.

The fresh color combination of Pool Party, Granny Apple Green, and Garden Green gives this card a light, peaceful feel that’s perfect for celebrating friendship. Pool Party adds a soft, calming backdrop, while the two shades of green bring the beauty of nature into the design. Together, these colors complement the floral patterns in the Valley in Bloom Designer Series Paper without competing for attention. It’s a palette that feels fresh year-round and works beautifully for friendship cards, encouragement cards, thinking of you cards, or almost any occasion when you want your handmade card to feel warm, uplifting, and heartfelt.

I also love how the Spotlight on Nature Dies, used with the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine, help anchor the sentiment. The detailed stitched circle adds just enough texture to separate it from the patterned background without competing with it. Paired with the Lily of the Valley Stamp Set, the sentiment becomes the true focal point while the paper provides a soft, elegant backdrop.

Another reason I enjoy this layout is how versatile it is. Change the sentiment and you’ve instantly created a birthday card, thank you card, thinking of you card, or encouragement card. It’s one of those sketches you’ll find yourself reaching for again and again because it works with nearly any Designer Series Paper collection.
