Sometimes you don’t need a special occasion to send a handmade card. This thinking of you card using the Simply Leaves Bundle by Stampin’ Up!® is for those times when someone simply pops into your mind and you want them to know it. And really, those may be some of the best cards to send.
I love the sentiment on this card: “Thinking of you often.” It doesn’t need an explanation or a special occasion. It just lets someone know they matter to you. Maybe it goes to a friend you haven’t talked to in a while. Maybe someone has been having a hard time. Or maybe you simply realized it has been WAY too long since you put something besides a bill in their mailbox.
That’s one of the reasons I love making all-occasion cards like this one. You can make them now, keep a few on hand, and have them ready when someone comes to mind.

August ordering Bonus
A Bonus for You!
Any order you place in August includes a free 10-project tutorial featuring the Stitched Season Suite that you can use with any Bundle in your stamp stash.
It’s filled with cozy, step-by-step card ideas to spark your creativity when your order arrives — so you’re not staring at supplies wondering where to start.
The Simply Leaves Bundle does most of the work on the focal point. I stamped the leaf images in coordinating colors and layered several different shapes together. The larger leaves were punched out with the coordinating punch from the bundle, which makes those quick and easy.
For the smaller leaves, I pulled out my trusty Paper Snips and cut them out by hand. They’re small enough that a little fussy cutting really isn’t too painful! A few loops of Linen Thread tucked among the leaves add some extra texture without competing with all those pretty patterns.

This combination feels soft and warm without becoming too sweet. Barely Blush keeps everything light, Crisp Cantaloupe adds a little warmth, and Calypso Coral gives the card enough contrast to make those leaves stand out.
I especially like how the three colors work together in the layered leaves. Using several shades from the same warm color family makes it easy to add interest without having too many colors competing for attention.
There’s another fun detail on this card that’s easy to miss at first. I ran the Paper Medley Designer Series Paper through the Tree Ring 3D Embossing Folder before adding it to the card.
I love doing this with Designer Series Paper! You still get the color and pattern from the paper, but the embossing adds another layer of texture. In this case, the Tree Ring pattern works especially well with the leaves and gives the whole card a soft, natural feel.
It’s also a good reminder to look at the Designer Series Paper you already own and ask, What else can I do with this? Sometimes an embossing folder can make a familiar piece of paper look completely different.
How To Make This Card
You’ll find the full supply list and step-by-step instructions below.

Thinking of You Card using the Simply Leaves Bundle
Supplies Needed
- Barely Blush Cardstock: 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" (scored at 4-1/4")
- Basic White Cardstock: 4" x 5-1/4" (inside card)
- Calypso Coral Cardstock: 4" x 5-1/4"
- Paper Medley Paper: 3-3/4" x 5" (Small White Flowers on Crumb Cake)
- Basic White Cardstock: 2-3/4" x 5-1/2" (for punching)
- Barely Blush Cardstock: 1/2" x 3" (sentiment)
Instructions
- Fold the Barely Blush Cardstock in half at the score line to create you card base. Adhere the 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White cardstock inside the card and decorate as desired.
- Using the Simple Leaf Punch from the bundle, punch out a leaf from the center of the 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Calypso Coral cardstock. Tip: make sure you punch from as close to the center as possible so that it will be covered by the Designer Paper.
- Stamp the "branch" image onto the Calypso Coral leaf using Calypso Coral ink and set aside.
- Run the Paper Medley Paper through the Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine using the Textured Tree Ring 3D Embossing Folder. Adhere to the Calypso Coral cardstock and then to the front of the card.
- Using the 2-3/4" x 5-1/2" piece of Basic White cardstock, stamp a large leaf at the edge of the cardstock using Barely Blush ink; punch out using Simple Leaf Punch. Using the remaining piece of cardstock, stamp 1 small leaf using Barely Blush Ink, and 2 small laves using Calypso Coral ink. Fussy cut out using scissors.
- Assemble all the leaves onto the card front as shown in the sample.
- Tie a large bow using the Linen Thread and adhere to the center of the leaves.
- Stamp the sentiment onto the 1/2" strip of Barely Blush cardstock using Calypso Coral ink. Use scissors to angle the left side if desired. Adhere sentiment strip to the leaves as desired using Stampin' Dimensionals to finish.
Notes
Of course, my favorite part of this card isn’t the embossing folder or even those cute leaves. It’s what happens after the card is finished.
Write a little note inside. Tell someone why you were thinking about them. Then put a stamp on it and get it into the mail. Because a Thinking of You card sitting in our craft room is pretty, but a Thinking of You card that shows up in someone’s mailbox can make their whole day.
