This cute Puppy Card using the Stitched Stockings Dies is one of those projects that makes me smile because it uses a Stampin’ Up!® holiday product in a completely unexpected way. Instead of creating Christmas stockings, I used some of the smaller stitched dies from the Stitched Stocking Bundle to build three sweet puppy faces. Add a few playful googly eyes, and suddenly those simple shapes are full of personality!

This is such a fun reminder to look beyond the obvious purpose of a product and see what else you can create with the pieces you already have. An all-occasion card like this is wonderful to have on hand because the design can work for so many people and reasons. The “Sending Love” greeting from the new Framed Violets Stamp Set keeps the message open-ended, making it easy to send for friendship, encouragement, thinking of you, or simply because someone could use a happy surprise in their mailbox. Those three little faces make the card feel cheerful before the envelope is even opened.

JULY ordering Bonus

A Bonus for You!

Any order you place in July includes a free 10-project tutorial featuring the Velvet Meadow Suite that you can use with any Bundle in your stamp stash.

It’s filled with cozy, step-by-step card ideas to spark your creativity when your order arrives — so you’re not staring at supplies wondering where to start.

The puppy design is also wonderfully approachable. Each face is built from simple die-cut shapes cut with our Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine, so there is no complicated coloring or detailed scene building. The stitched edges give the pieces a finished look, while the patterned papers make every puppy a little different. It’s a great example of letting small creative choices do the work without making the card feel fussy.

The googly eyes are what really bring these pups to life. Their slightly different placement gives each puppy its own expression, adding humor and charm without any extra technique. The grid-style layout keeps all that playfulness balanced, with the Basic Gray squares giving each puppy its own little spot to shine.

Pecan Pie, Basic Beige, and Basic Gray create a warm, neutral color combination that works beautifully with the patterned puppy faces. The soft beige keeps the card light, the gray adds structure, and the rich brown card base brings everything together. It’s a versatile palette that feels cozy and friendly without tying the card to one particular occasion.

The best part may be seeing the Stitched Stocking Bundle in a whole new way. A product designed for cozy Christmas projects can become a playful puppy card with just a little imagination. That kind of creative discovery is part of the fun of cardmaking—and this one is ready to send a little love to someone who needs a smile.

Easy Puppy Card Using The Stitched Stockings Bundle

Create a playful all-occasion card by using the Stitched Stocking Bundle dies in a completely unexpected way. Simple shapes, patterned paper, and googly eyes come together to make three adorable puppies.

Supplies Needed

  • Pecan Pie Cardstock: 5-1/2' X 8-1/2" (Scored at 4-1/4")
  • Very Vanilla Cardstock: 4" x 5-1/4" (Optional – for inside card)
  • Everyday Essentials Paper: 4" x 4" (Dog Pattern 2)
  • Everyday Essentials Paper: 2" x 6" (Dog Pattern 1)
  • Everyday Essentials Paper: 2" x 6" (Dog Pattern 2)
  • Everyday Essentials Paper: 2" x 6" (Dog Pattern 3)
  • Basic Gray Cardstock: 5" x 5" (for die-cutting)
  • Basic Black Cardstock: scrap (about 1" square for dog nose)

Instructions

  • Fold the Pecan Pie cardstock in half at the score line to create your card base.
  • Adhere the Very Vanilla cardstock inside the card and decorate as desired.
  • Using the Basic Gray Cardstock, die-cut three of the 1-7/8" squares using the Stylish Shapes Dies. Adhere the three squares onto the 4" x 4" Everyday Essentials paper. Using the Pecan Pie Ink Pad, stamp the Framed Violet's sentiment on to the "open square" at an angle as shown in the sample.
  • Adhere the 4" x 4" piece onto the front of the card as shown on the sample.
  • Using the three 2" x 6" pieces of Everyday Essentials paper, die-cut one of the long label dies and 1 of the square dies that creates 4 triangles.
  • For one of the Everyday Essentials paper patterns, cut one end of the label die to 1-1/2" and adhere to one of the Basic Gray die-cut squares to create the face. Adhere 2 of the rectangle pieces to create the ears. Using a 1/4" hole punch, punch a circle from the Basic Black cardstock and add as a nose as shown in the sample. Add 2 wiggle eyes to finish. (Each paper pattern creates enough for 2 dog faces; set the remaining pieces aside to use on another card.)
  • Repeat this process for the 2 other Everyday Essentials paper patterns so that you have a dog on each of the 3 Basic Gray Squares to finish.

Notes

Worker Bee  (for Confident Cardmakers)
Worker Bee projects are designed for the crafter who has a bit more time and enjoys creating a handmade card that features a technique or tool. In many cases, a Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine is required for die-cutting and/or embossing.

This card would be especially fun for a dog lover, but its cheerful personality makes it a sweet choice for almost anyone. Send it to a friend who needs encouragement, a family member you’ve been thinking about, or someone who simply appreciates a little humor. Because the greeting is so open-ended, you don’t need a special occasion—you just need someone you’d like to make smile.

That’s one of the reasons handmade cards matter so much. Taking the time to create something and send it through the mail tells someone they were on your mind long before the envelope reached their hands. The card doesn’t have to be complicated or perfect to make a difference. Sometimes a few playful puppies and a simple “Sending Love” are exactly the reminder someone needs that they are remembered and cared about.
