How to Make an Easy Handmade Thank You Card

Have you ever wanted to thank someone but didn’t have a card ready to send? Today I’m sharing how to make an easy handmade Thank You card using pretty sunflower paper, a couple of circle punches, and a heartfelt greeting. It’s a great way to make someone feel appreciated without spending hours at your craft table!

For this week’s Coffee & a Card, I’m using the Round About Messages Stamp Set and Sunflower Fields Designer Series Paper from Stampin’ Up! I love the warm fall colors in this paper, and those cheerful sunflowers make me smile every time I look at them.

One of my favorite ways to make a quick card is to start with Designer Series Paper that already has a lot of color and pattern. The Sunflower Fields paper is perfect for this! The flowers give the card a cheerful focal point, while the coordinating plaid pieces help frame the design without competing with those pretty sunflowers. And here’s a little cardmaking trick: when you’re working with a busy floral pattern, give your greeting a solid background so it doesn’t get lost.

And here’s where the circle punches come in. For this card, I used the 2″ and 2-3/8″ Circle Punches to create a layered greeting. The larger circle picks up the warm plaid pattern from the background, while the smaller circle gives the stamped words a nice, clean place to shine.

For this card, I chose Golden Glow, Pecan Pie, and Cajun Craze. Golden Glow gives the card a warm, cheerful base that brings out the golden petals in the sunflower paper. Pecan Pie adds a rich brown that helps balance all those bright flowers. It also gives the plaid pattern a cozy fall feeling. And Cajun Craze brings in that beautiful rusty orange we see in autumn leaves and late-season flowers.

Together, these colors feel warm and welcoming without being too dark. And while they’re perfect for fall, I think this card would be just as lovely to send any time of year.

The Round About Messages Stamp Set has such a fun look, with the words curving around the circle. I added the bold “Thanks” greeting across the center to make sure the message stands out. A few Gold Adhesive-Backed Dots finish things off with just a little shine. Nothing too fancy, but those small details really bring the card together!

I think we sometimes forget how much a simple thank-you can mean. Maybe a neighbor brought in your mail while you were away. Maybe a friend checked on you when you weren’t feeling well. Or maybe someone did something thoughtful that made your day a little easier. Those are the perfect reasons to send a handmade card!

And with Thanksgiving just around the corner, November is a lovely time to remind someone how much you appreciate them. So grab some pretty paper, make a card, and send a little kindness through the mail. Let’s fill those mailboxes with stamping sunshine!
