Easy Hot Foil Card using the Lustrous Leaves Bundle

See how Decorative Masks, Blending Brushes, and Copper Foil work together to create beautiful fall leaves with plenty of WOW. The simple card design lets those leaves do all the work.

Supplies Needed

  • Very Vanilla Cardstock: 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" (scored at 4-1/4"_
  • Sunflower Fields Paper: 3/4" x 5-1/2"
  • Very Vanilla Cardstock: 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" (masks & die-cutting)

Instructions

  • Fold the Very Vanilla cardstock in half at the score line to create your card base.
  • Place the five-leaf Hot Foil down onto the copper foil and cut around the die using scissors to avoid wasting a lot of the copper foil. Following the instructions that come with your Hot Foil Machine, hot foil the leaves onto the center of the 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" Very Vanilla Cardstock. You can also watch a video here.
  • Line up the Lustrous Leaves Mask #1 (the number of each mask is just below the notch at the top of every mask) onto the copper foil leaves from the previous step. I find it helpful to to tape down the mask using non-stick tape. Using a Blending Brush and Golden Glow ink, lightly sponge ink over the mask.
  • Remove Mask #1 and line up Mask #2 over the leaves. Sponge Golden Glow ink over the mask, this time using a heavier hand. Remove Mask #2, add Mask #3 and sponge Cajun Craze ink over the Mask. Tip: Cajun Craze is much darker so you might want to use a light hand at first, check the color and then go back over a second time.
  • Remove Mask #3 and clean all 3 masks with a baby wipe or I prefer to take them to a sink, run cool water over the masks (front & back) and then stand up against your back splash and let air dry.
  • Run the sponged leaves through the Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine and die-cut using the five-leaf regular die from the Bundle.
  • Stamp the sentiment from the Scalloped Blooms Stamp Set in the bottom right corner of the card base using Pecan Pie ink. Adhere the strip of Sunflower Fields Designer Paper just above the stamped sentiment.
  • Adhere the leaves to the front of the card as desired. I added 3 to the front and 2 to the inside of the card.

Notes

Worker Bee  (for Confident Cardmakers)
Worker Bee projects are designed for the crafter who has a bit more time and enjoys creating a handmade card that features a technique or tool. For this project, a Hot Foil System and a Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine are required for foiling and die-cutting.
