If you’ve ever wondered How to Color Embossed Vellum with Stampin’ Blends, this Stampin’ Up!® project is such a beautiful way to try it. This soft, floral design combines textured vellum with gentle coloring to create a card that feels elegant, unique, and just a little bit special.

This is the exact card we made during this week’s Coffee & a Card—our casual midweek craft break on Facebook where we chat, sip on our favorite beverage, and make something wonderful.

For this card, we used the Floral Spray 3D Embossing Folder to create that gorgeous raised design on vellum. Because this is a 3D embossing folder, the impression is deeper and more detailed, which really makes the floral image stand out in a soft, almost ethereal way.

The real magic happens when you start adding color. Using Stampin’ Blends on the back side of the embossed vellum lets the color show through in a soft, diffused way. It’s such a simple technique, but the result feels beautifully blended and almost like watercolor without any of the stress.

The color combination of Bubble Bath, Balmy Blue, and Lost Lagoon keeps everything light and calming. It works perfectly with the vellum to give the card that soft, layered look while still allowing the embossed details to shine through.

Because vellum can be a little tricky to work with, this isn’t necessarily a beginner card—but it’s absolutely worth trying when you’re ready to step up your techniques just a bit. The key is letting the embossing and coloring do the work for you instead of adding lots of extra layers.

The simple sentiment and ribbon detail finish the card without taking away from that beautiful textured background. It’s a great example of how a few thoughtful elements can create something that feels polished and meaningful.
