This Winter Card using the Winter Scenes Stamp Set by Stampin’ Up!® is the kind of project that makes you feel like you just pulled a vintage postcard out of a keepsake box. The snowy pines, soft blues, and a touch of shimmer from Wink of Stella bring this handmade card to life. And while the set doesn’t include sentiments, that’s actually a bonus — you can adapt this all-occasion design for thank you’s, winter birthdays, or simply to brighten someone’s day.
The Winter Scenes Stamp Set is one of those treasures that feels timeless the moment you stamp it. With its delicate, detailed line art, it gives you that hand-drawn look without requiring artistic skills. One stamp, one impression, and suddenly you’ve got a little winter wonderland on your cardstock. On this card, I paired it with the Traditional Labels Dies to frame the scene, because there’s just something about a crisp die-cut shape that elevates even the simplest stamped image.
But let’s talk about that background for a second. The soft, dreamy blues you see? That’s the Lights of Aurora Designer Series Paper. This paper is magic — no sponging, no special technique needed. It already has that glowing effect that looks like you spent ages blending inks when really, you just cut a panel and layered it on. If you’ve ever wanted to create cards that have a “wow” factor without eating up hours of your crafting time, this is the shortcut you’ve been waiting for.
And let’s talk about color!
I love that this card features a monochromatic color scheme. The card base is Blueberry Bushel cardstock, which adds the perfect pop of bold, rich color to set everything off. It frames the softer hues of the aurora background and balances the delicate black line art of the stamped image. Together, they create harmony — bold yet gentle, detailed yet simple. And it all comes together in minutes.
For coloring, I used Balmy Blue Stampin’ Blends to give the scene just a touch of life. The light wash of color on the snowbanks and trees makes the image glow without overwhelming the line art. If you’re new to Blends, this is the kind of project that’s perfect for you — minimal coloring, maximum impact. And if you’re more experienced, you can always step it up with shading, multiple colors, or even a little ink blending behind the stamped image for added depth.

Of course, I couldn’t resist pulling out my trusty Wink of Stella pen to add sparkle to the snowy areas. It’s like putting fresh frost on the card. Tilt it under the light and you’ll see that subtle shimmer that makes people say, “How did you do that?” It’s those little touches that turn a nice card into something really memorable.
To finish it off, I added a few Hues of Blue Flower embellishments, which tie everything together. They’re small, but they add that touch of dimension and texture that every card needs. The end result is elegant without being fussy — which, if you’re anything like me, is exactly the balance you’re looking for when crafting cards you actually plan to mail.
The beauty of this design is that it works for so many occasions. Need a winter birthday card? Just stamp a birthday sentiment inside. Want to say thank you? Add a thank you greeting. Simply sending happy mail “just because”? This card delivers. That flexibility means you can make a stack of these, leave them sentiment-free until you need one, and then add the right words when the time comes.
If you’re a beginner, this project will make you feel confident and proud. It’s straightforward, uses only a few supplies, and yet the finished look feels polished and professional. If you’re a more seasoned crafter, you’ll appreciate how quickly it comes together and how easy it is to tweak — change the background paper, try a different die shape, or experiment with a different color palette.
At the heart of it, this card is about connection. Taking a quiet moment at your craft table, creating something beautiful with your hands, and then sending that beauty out into the world. In a season where days can feel gray and cold, this little piece of handmade warmth has the power to brighten someone’s day in the most meaningful way.

Step-By-Step Instructions
