The Changing Leaves Hybrid Embossing Folder is a game-changer for paper crafters. Simply snap the dies into the embossing folder, add your paper, run it through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine, and voila! The result is beautiful die-cut, embossed accents that will take your cards to the next level.
Or you can keep things simple, as I did on this card, and use the Embossing Folder on its own and use the dies separately to cut out the sentiment label. I took this up a notch by adding ink to the folder, so that it inked and embossed the paper at the same time. It’s so easy, as you’ll see when I walk you through the instructions below.

How To Make This Card
Project Skill Level: Worker Bee
Worker Bee projects are designed for the crafter who has a bit more time and enjoys creating a handmade card that features a technique or tool. In many cases, a Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine is required for die-cutting and/or embossing.
Cardstock Measurements:
- Pool Party Cardstock: 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″, scored at 4-1/4″
- Basic Beige Cardstock: 4″ x 5-1/4″ (2 pieces)
- Pool Party Cardstock: 2″ x 2″

Step-by-Step Instructions:
- Fold the Pool Party Cardstock in half at the score line to create the card base.
- Adhere one of the Basic Beige cardstock mats inside the card.
- We’re now going to use the second Basic Beige Mat to create our focal point. Start by opening the Changing Leaves Hybrid 3D Embossing Folder and place the side with the Stampin’ Up! logo flat on your table, with the inside of the folder up.
- Using the Pool Party ink pad, lightly press the open ink pad all over the inside of the folder, placing ink on the raised part of the folder.
- Carefully lay the Beige cardstock mat onto the inked Embossing Folder, carefully close the Folder so that it doesn’t move the cardstock and run through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine, Open the folder and remove the cardstock.
- Wrap the Iridescent Striped Trim Ribbon around the cardstock and tie into a bow in the right side. (See sample for placement.) Adhere the Beige cardstock to the front of the card.
- Stamp the sentiment onto the 2″ piece of Pool Party cardstock using Pool Party ink. Run through the Cut & Emboss Machine and cut out using the circle die that comes in the Changing Leaves Bundle Dies.
- Adhere the sentiment circle to the card front, to the left of the bow, using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
A Tip from Barb
If you have trouble controlling the Ink Pad when inking up the Embossing Folder, try applying the ink using a Small Blending Brush. It will allow you more control over applying the ink on the inside of the Folder. The Blending Brush can also get ink into crevices, which can lighten the ink, so you may want to try this method with darker inks.
