It’s filled with cozy, step-by-step card ideas to spark your creativity when your order arrives — so you’re not staring at supplies wondering where to start.

I have to admit, a kangaroo dressed up for Christmas wasn’t exactly what I expected to be stamping this season. But how can you resist that face? The Joyful Friends Stamp Set is full of playful characters, and this kangaroo is especially fun. Between the reindeer antlers and the little Christmas treat, there’s plenty of personality packed into one stamped image.

I kept the layout straightforward so the kangaroo could be the star of the show. The white panel framed with Real Red cardstock gives the image a nice little spotlight, while the strip of holly-patterned paper adds just enough Christmas cheer.

And that greeting, “A Merry & Sweet Christmas Treat,” couldn’t be more perfect!

1009 Colors

For this card, I used three Stampin’ Up! colors:

  • Old Olive for the card base, giving everything a warm, traditional Christmas feel.
  • Real Red for the layers and greeting, adding a cheerful pop of holiday color.
  • Pecan Pie for the kangaroo, bringing in a soft, natural brown that keeps the design feeling cozy.

What I especially like about this combination is how the Old Olive and Real Red create that familiar Christmas look, while Pecan Pie adds a little warmth without competing with the stamped image.

The holly-patterned paper ties the colors together, and the white background keeps the design from feeling too busy. Sometimes a few well-chosen colors are all you need!

One of my favorite things about this card is the opportunity to color that adorable kangaroo. The soft brown body, tiny details on the face, and little Christmas pudding give you just enough coloring to enjoy without turning it into an all-afternoon project.

And if you’re someone who doesn’t consider herself particularly artistic, don’t worry! You don’t have to be a coloring expert to make a card like this, thanks to using Stampin’ Blends. The stamped outlines do much of the work for you. Just take your time, enjoy the process, and remember that handmade cards aren’t supposed to look like they came off an assembly line. That’s part of their charm!

Here’s what I love most about this card: it’s unexpected. Most people are used to seeing Santa, snowmen, and reindeer on Christmas cards. But a kangaroo wearing antlers and carrying a Christmas pudding? That’s the kind of card someone might leave sitting on the kitchen counter just because it makes them smile.

Think about someone on your Christmas card list who could use a little extra cheer this year. Maybe it’s a friend who lives alone, a relative you don’t get to see very often, or someone who’s had a particularly busy season.

A handmade card won’t solve all their problems, but it can remind them that somebody was thinking about them. And sometimes, that’s the sweetest Christmas treat of all.
