What if you could make three completely different Christmas cards using just one stamp set? These 3 Cards Using the Joyful Friends Stamp Set show how you can start with a straightforward holiday design and add a few creative touches to make each version a little more special. And with these adorable Christmas critters, it’s hard not to smile while you’re stamping!

The Joyful Friends Stamp Set is filled with playful little characters that are just begging to be colored. In this case, I used Stampin’ Blends, which makes the coloring quick and easy. For these cards, I’ve paired the stamp set with Whispering Woods Designer Series Paper and a fresh Christmas color combination of Shaded Spruce, Pool Party, and Smoky Slate.
What I love about this combination is that it gives us a Christmas look without relying on traditional red and green. The soft blues and greens in the patterned paper create a wintry background, while those sweet stamped animals add just the right amount of personality.
And the best part? You can use the same basic supplies to create three very different cards!

I used Shaded Spruce, Pool Party, and Smoky Slate for these three designs. Together, these colors create a softer Christmas palette that’s playful, fresh, and a little unexpected, and I love how they work together.
Shaded Spruce gives us that deep evergreen Christmas feeling, while Pool Party brings a cool, frosty touch. Smoky Slate is a wonderful neutral for coloring the little animals, helping them stand out without competing with the colorful background.

One of my favorite things about Step It Up Stamping is discovering how many different cards you can create with the same supplies. Sometimes you’re in the mood for a quick card that comes together without a lot of fuss. Other times, you want to pull out your dies, add some texture, and enjoy spending a little more time creating.
Neither approach is better. They’re simply different ways to enjoy the supplies you already have! And if you’re making Christmas cards for several people, having three versions to choose from gives you some wonderful flexibility.
Can you picture who might receive each of these cards? Maybe the Busy Bee card is perfect for a neighbor, the Worker Bee version would make a grandchild giggle, and the Queen Bee card is just right for that special friend who appreciates all the little handmade details.
After all, the best part of making Christmas cards isn’t how many layers we add. It’s knowing that someone will open their mailbox and find a little something made just for them.
