Some cards are made for celebrations. Others are made for the quieter moments when someone simply needs encouragement. This handmade Get Well Card idea for a friend was designed for exactly that kind of moment. When a friend isn’t feeling well, when life slows down unexpectedly, or when someone just needs a reminder that people care about them.

Get well cards are one of the most thoughtful cards you can send. When someone is recovering from illness or going through a difficult time, even a short message can bring encouragement. The act of sending a card tells them they’re being thought of.

This design feels gentle and calming, which makes it perfect for that purpose. The soft florals and quiet colors create a peaceful look that doesn’t feel overwhelming. Instead, the card simply says, “I hope today feels a little brighter.”

One of the easiest ways to create a beautiful card is by letting patterned paper do the work. The Lovely Blossoms Designer Series Paper provides the floral pattern and color palette, so the design already feels complete before you add anything else. That means you don’t need complicated stamping techniques or lots of embellishments. The paper itself becomes the feature of the card.

Because the elements are balanced and centered, the design feels polished without requiring multiple layers or intricate techniques. It’s a perfect example of how simple layouts often create the most elegant cards.

This card feels calm and fresh because of the color palette.

Soft blue cardstock frames the floral designer paper while deeper blue layers add contrast and definition. The green leaves in the patterned paper bring life and movement across the design. The ribbon provides a subtle horizontal line that anchors the sentiment panel, giving the eye a place to rest.

Together, the elements create a card that feels balanced, peaceful, and encouraging

Handmade Get Well Card using the Delicate Whispers Stamp Set by Stampin’ Up!®

This handmade get well card uses floral designer paper, layered cardstock, and a simple ribbon accent to create a thoughtful card that beginners can easily make. The clean layout highlights the patterned paper while keeping the design calm and elegant.

Supplies Needed

  • Cloud Cover Cardstock: 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" (scored at 4-1/4")
  • Basic White Cardstock: 4" x 5-1/4"
  • Secret Sea Cardstock: 3-1/2" x 5-1/2"
  • Lovely Blossoms Designer Paper: 3-1/4" x 5-1/4"
  • Cloud Cover Cardstock: 1-1/2" x 2"
  • Secret Sea Cardstock: 1-1/4" x 1-3/4"
  • Basic White Cardstock: 1" x 1-1/2"

Instructions

  • Fold the Cloud Cover cardstock in half at the scoreline to create your card base.
  • Adhere the 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White cardstock inside the card.
  • Adhere the Lovely Blossoms Designer Paper to the 3-1/2" x 5-1/2" piece of Secret Sea Cardstock and adhere to the center of the card base.
  • Ink up the small flower background stamp using Secret Sea ink. Stamp off 3-4 times on your scratch paper (you want the stamped image very light), and then stamp onto the 1-1/2" x 2" piece of Cloud Cover cardstock.
  • Stamp the sentiment onto the 1" x 1-1/2" piece of Basic White cardstock using Secret Sea ink. Adhere the White cardstock to the 1-1/4" x 1-3/4" Secret Sea cardstock, and then onto the Cloud Cover cardstock from the previous step.
  • Cut 6" of the Secret Sea ribbon and fold 3 times so it resembles a "Z". Adhere to the back of the previous piece using a Stampin' Dimensional. Add a few more Stampin' Dimensionals and adhere the sentiment to the card to finish.
