Today, I’m thrilled to share a perfect solution for busy women who want to infuse a bit of creativity into their hectic schedules. This card uses Holiday Card Sketch #1, which is showcased in our Stampin’ Up! 2024 Holiday Catalog on page 16. (View our 2024 Holiday Catalog here.)
To make this handmade Birthday card even easier to create, I used the gorgeous Regal Winter Designer Paper and pulled the colors for my card from the paper. You can easily use a different paper to create a totally different color combination.

Step-by-Step Instructions:
- Fold the Smoky Slate cardstock in half at the score line to create your card base. Adhere the 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Basic White cardstock inside the card.
- Using a marker or pencil, on the back of the Regal Winter paper, make a mark 1” down from the top on both sides, and a make at the top 1/2” in from each side. Using either your Paper Snips scissors or Paper Trimmer, cut from the 1” mark on the side to the 1/2” mark at the top. Do this on both sides.
- Cut approximately 5” of ribbon. At the top of the tag, punch a hole using a regular hole punch. Fold the ribbon in half, thread through the hole loop first, and put the ends of the ribbon through the loop & pull gently. (Tip: if you don’t have a hole punch, just tie a knot in the middle of your ribbon and glue to the top of the tag.)
- Adhere tag to the front of the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
- Stamp the sentiment on to the 1” strip of Basic White cardstock using Night of Navy ink. “Flag notch” both ends of the strip using Paper Snips; adhere the sentiment at an angle on the tag.
- Add 3 of the Night of Navy Opal Rounds to the sentiment strip as desired to finish.
A Tip from Barb
This is a fun card sketch that can be altered in many different ways. If the Designer Paper you’re using doesn’t have a “neutral” pattern, just leave it off. This design works best if you can use two Color Buddies from the paper, but if that doesn’t work, simply use White cardstock for the sentiment strip and change the ink color to another color pulled from the paper!
