Your Mom Was Right About Writing a Thank You Note

I stamp for a living.  I’m surrounded by beautiful handmade cards on the wall of my Studio.

But the other day, I opened my  mailbox and there was a small envelope, with my name printed on the front.   My breath hitched a bit and I immediately looked to see who had sent it to me.  (Peg Bunn – thank you so much for your card!)

I started smiling and — while standing in the lovely Northwest mist, also known as rain — I opened my card and went from a smile to a full-fledged grin.  Someone thought enough of me to send me a Thank You card!

Unlike a text or an e-mail, this was special.  (Any time someone says thank you – whatever the format – it’s important & appreciated.  But a hand-stamped card?  Well, that was SPECIAL!)

It truly made my day.   And made me realize — mom was right.  A thank you card, sent through the mail, is more than a piece of paper.  It’s a feeling. It’s an emotional booster.

It’s a hug with a fold in the middle.

Why not pull out some ink, paper & stamps and send a thank you card today?  I promise you, the person on the other end will appreciate it more than you  know.

And Thank You Peg – your card made my day!!

Why Thank You Cards are not a lost art -- and why they're so important.

  1. what a sweet card…… It’s always so nice to get a card in the mail, especially when you know it’s hand made…. very cute…

  2. That was truly sweet and a good reminder! I try really hard to send thank you cards for gifts received, but I forget how many thank you’s I owe for other gifts I receive on a daily basis. Thanks, Barb, for sharing and thank you, Peg for such a nice card!
