Why Cardmaking Never Turns Out The Way I Plan

As I’m sure I’ve mentioned (at least a thousand times or more so far), I love the Stampin’ Up! Painted Petals Stamp set.

I find it super easy to design with — just change up your colors and you have a totally different looking card.

I was in a hurry awhile back and needed a card FAST.  So I grabbed a half sheet of Whisper White cardstock, some sponges, and used the ink pads that were already littering my stamp table:  Lost Lagoon, Mossy Meadow and Blackberry Bliss.

(At least these 3 colors went together! I have no doubt I would have used whatever was lying there and just called it one of my “creative challenges”….)

I had just stamped my top row of “circles” when my phone rang and I needed to address a crisis one of my team members was having.  45 minutes later, I returned to my stamp table, was just about to start stamping the leaves and went – UH OH.

(Well, quite honestly, my language might have been a bit saltier than that but let’s just pretend I was polite.)

I had stamped my card upside down.

The row of dots that was supposed to be on the top, were actually on the bottom if you wanted to open the card like a normal human being.   Sigh.

I was in a hurry – and let’s face it, I’m cheap – so I just flipped the card around and pretended this was my original intention. 2 minutes later, my card was done, my envelope was addressed, and the card was on it’s way to the Post Office.

Hmmmm…do you think the recipient of the card will notice it was upside down – or just think it was one of my “creative challenges”??   *Ü*

  1. You know, I didn’t even notice the dots under the green stems and leaves until I read this blog!! Either you are an incredible designer (which you are) or have a way with covering up a boo-boo!! I like this card, the colors are great!

  2. — And here I thought the double dots were deliberate! Like the effect they give. Thanks for sharing!
