Swirly Bird Stamp Set – A Simple Birthday Card
My card was a variation of a card I saw by talented Demonstrator, Becky Roberts. Becky’s card was a very clean & simple card, stamped on a half-sheet of White White cardstock. I decided that for this card, I wanted a lot of color — so I designed this entire card around one of my favorite new color combinations: Bermuda Bay, Peekaboo Peach and Emerald Envy:
I started with a half a sheet of Bermuda Bay Cardstock (5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″), which I folded in half to make the base card. I then stamped all over the top of the basecard with the “outline” swirl using Bermuda Bay ink. (My pad was brand new, so I ended up tapping off most of the ink on my scratch sheet before I stamped onto the cardstock.)
Starting with a 3″ x 4″ piece of Whisper White cardstock, I stamped the large solid swirl in the lower left corner of the cardstock. I stamped the sentiment from the Suite Sayings stamp set (one of my personal favs!) beside the flower, slightly overlapping it, using Memento Black ink.
I then stamped the small bold swirl several times using Peekaboo Peach ink. I added various leaves using Emerald Envy ink. And because I felt there was too much white space, I added some speckles using the speckle stamp from the same set, using Soft Sky ink.
I layered the white cardstock onto a 3-1/4″ x 4-1/4″ piece Peekaboo Peach cardstock and mounted it onto the card using Stamping Dimensionals. I was going to add a large Rhinestone in the center of the bold swirl, but decided to use a small piece of Peekaboo Peach ribbon that I tied into a knot and adhered onto the card using a glue dot.
A fast & easy card that makes quite a statement due to the dramatic use of bold color!
