I love the bright, cheery colors of this card. And the fact that the stamp set I used is one of the items you can choose for free during Sale-A-Bration when you place a $50 order – well, that was just icing on the cake!
I started with a 2-1/2″ x 4-1/4″ piece of Whisper White cardstock and stamped various images from the Flowering Fields stamp set using Black Memento ink. I colored in the images using my Blender Pen and Wild Wasabi, Marina Mist, Watermelon Wonder and So Saffron inks.
Do you know how to do this? It’s easy! While your ink pad is closed, squeeze the ink pad together and then open the ink pad. The ink will be on the inside lid of your ink pad, where you can “pick it up” using your Blender Pen. Easy peasy! Are you more of a visual person? Here’s a great Blender Pen video to watch to see this technique in action!
After I finished coloring the images, I cut a small (about 2″) piece of the luscious Watermelon Wonder Ribbon, folded it in half and taped it to the back of the White cardstock. I then layered this onto a 2-3/4″ x 4-1/4″ piece of Marina Mist cardstock and set it aside.
For the base of the card, I used a 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ piece of So Saffron cardstock, scored it at 4-1/4″ and folded it in half to make a standard A-2 size card. On the front of the card, I stamped the Dots for Days background stamp using So Saffron ink. I think this is one of the most overlooked stamps in our catalog – it’s absolutely perfect for when you need a quick, but subtle, background!
Now all that was left was to add the stamped piece onto the base card using a few Stampin’ Dimensionals. I purposefully left the inside & outside of the card without a sentiment so that I could grab this card and add the right sentiment when I needed it.
